Rainwater Harvesting

Rainwater harvesting is an old and widely used practice. The basic system includes a filter that attaches to the downspout or roof drains coupled with a cistern and a pump. As water discharges from the roof a high capacity vortex filter removes large and fine debris and oxygenates the water. Water then enters the storage tank through a smoothing inlet, preventing the agitation of sediment and evenly distributing oxygen in the water. A floating filter in the cistern attached to a pump removes the cleanest water in the tank, a few inches below the surface, for use. Overflow devices allow for the disposal of excess water. Tanks, filters and pumps are available in all sizes depending on the end use of the water. These systems are very effective, one inch or rain on a 2,000 square foot roof yields over 1200 gallons of water!

Typical uses
  • Irrigation
  • Toilets
  • Laundry
  • Washing vehicles
  • Swimming pools
  • Hot tubs

Benefits
  • Reduce the municipal water bill
  • Clean, mineral free water will help extend the life of affected applications (when well water currently being used)
  • Reduce storm water runoff and prevent flooding
  • Protect sensitive watersheds from dirty runoff and pollution
  • Reduce demand on water supply
  • Water conservation

Wastewater Management

VP Supply sells a full line of wastewater treatment products including treatment products and high density polyethylene tanks.

VP Supply is proud to sell Bord na Mona's Puraflo Wastewater Treatment system. Puraflo is a peat fiber system that offers the flexibility homeowners need to treat wastewater. Wastewater flows through the home and into the septic tank. The solids settle and liquid effluent flows by gravity to a pump tank. In the pump tank the liquid effluent is pumped by tome-dosing into the Puraflo modules, distributed evenly onto biofibrous peat media. A combination of biological, chemical, and physical processes treat the wastewater as it filters through the biofibrous peat media. The treated effluent can then be dispersed into a gravel pad below the modules or collected for dispersal by other methods such as gravel trenches, trip irrigation and other conventional methods.

The Puraflo system is perfect for sensitive watersheds and where space is limited. The all-natural peat fiber has a 15 plus year life expectancy and requires minimal maintenance. The Puraflo system is completely odor free, with very little power requirements!

Roth MultiTank

VP Supply sells Roth MultiTanks to go with both our rainwater harvesting and wastewater treatment systems. Roth offers innovative blow molding technology that gives the MultiTanks many advantages over industry standard plastic or concrete tanks. When used in conjunction with plastic accessories a complete blow-mold system is less expensive than a traditional concrete system. Roth offers a 5-year labor warranty to certified installers! VP Supply stocks 300 to 1500 gallon Roth MultiTanks.

Why Blow Molding?
  • no cracking or corrosion
  • no water backfill required
  • watertight
  • strongest poly tank available on the market
  • made with high density polyethylene
  •  multi-port inlet/outlet
  •  versatile and suitable for pump and septic applications
