One of the most popular and most recognizable renewable energy products are wind turbines. Wind turbines are set in place to gather kinetic energy of air as it moves past the blades. The air moving causes the blades to spin which subsequently rotates the shaft of a generator located in the turbine itself. As the shaft spins, it creates electricity which can then be used for either a home or business.

Wind turbines can be used in any location where enough land and wind are available to produce energy on a consistent basis and where local building codes allow. They have applications in residential grid ties, remote off grid locations, and also for commercial purposes. Wind turbines can be used to drastically reduce, or in some cases even eliminate, costs associated with using electricity from a power company. Wind power has the capabilities to not only supplement the power you purchase from your utility provider; in some cases if more energy is produced, excess energy can be sold back to utility providers in your area.
